Pakistan's fertiliser supply chain has received a boost as Mari Energies signs key agreements aimed at stabilising gas deliveries critical for domestic urea production and food security.
Mari Energies Limited announced that it has entered into multiple project agreements with Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited, Engro Fertilizers Limited, and Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited. The development was disclosed in a filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
The agreements relate to the Pressure Enhancement Facilities (PEF) project at Daharki, Sindh. This initiative involves debottlenecking pipeline infrastructure, installing compression systems across key junctions, and undertaking associated operations and maintenance activities within the gas gathering network.
The project is designed to maintain minimum delivery pressure from the Habib Rahi Limestone reservoir. By doing so, it aims to extend the production plateau and ensure uninterrupted indigenous gas supplies to fertiliser plants.
Officials indicated that stable gas availability is essential for sustaining urea output, which in turn supports agricultural productivity and national food security.
Mari Energies, an integrated exploration and production firm, reports an exploration success rate of around 70%, significantly higher than domestic and global industry averages. Its client base spans fertiliser manufacturers, power producers, gas utilities and refineries.
The agreements underscore ongoing efforts to strengthen energy infrastructure linked to agriculture, as policymakers and industry players seek to secure inputs vital for the country's food supply chain.
