Lahore: Punjab Environment Protection Department has directed all shopping malls and plazas in certain divisions to install air purifiers to tackle the smog issue. The decision has been taken due to poor air quality index in major divisions of Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, and Gujranwala. According to Radio Pakistan, the directive aims to mitigate the effects of rising pollution levels that have been affecting these areas. The installation of air purifiers is expected to improve the indoor air quality in commercial areas, providing a safer environment for shoppers and employees alike. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to combat the persistent smog problem that has plagued the region, especially during the winter months. The Punjab Environment Protection Department is urging compliance from all commercial establishments in the specified divisions to ensure the health and safety of the public. By taking this step, the department hopes to set a precedent for other regions facing similar environmental challenges.
