Pakistan’s Cutlery Exports Rise 17.78%, More Than Double the Growth in Total Exports

Pakistan's cutlery exports grew strongly at the start of the 2026-27 fiscal year. According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), cutlery exports in July-August rose by 17.78% to $10.28m, up from $8.728m a year earlier. That was more than twice the growth rate of Pakistan's total exports.

August was especially strong. Exports rose to $5.214m from $4.424m in August 2025, an increase of 17.86%, so growth remained steady through the period.

Exports also increased from the previous month. August's total was 2.93% higher than July's $5.066m. That contrasts with many other export categories, which weakened from July to August.

Cutlery remains a small part of Pakistan's export earnings. Total exports in July-August rose by 7.04% to $5.459bn from $5.1bn, so cutlery accounted for a very small share despite its faster growth.

Imports grew faster than exports. They rose by 13.03% to $12.575bn from $11.125bn.

As a result, the trade deficit for the two months widened to about $7.1bn, compared with roughly $6bn a year earlier. Even with strong growth, cutlery exports are far too small to make a meaningful difference to that gap.

The figures show that some smaller manufacturing sectors are growing faster than Pakistan's main export industries. Whether cutlery can become a significant source of export earnings will depend on sustaining this growth for much longer.
