Secretary Pompeo’s Working Lunch With His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan

Secretary Michael R. Pompeo had a working lunch with King Abdullah today, during which they discussed a wide range of shared interests, including regional stability and the U.S.-Jordan economic and commercial partnership. The leaders discussed their commitment to defeat ISIS, support for lasting and comprehensive peace between Israel and the Palestinians, and ongoing efforts to further strengthen bilateral ties. The Secretary underscored U.S. support for Jordan as the King implements critical reforms to promote Jordan’s prosperity and self-reliance. Secretary Pompeo and King Abdullah reaffirmed their mutual commitment to a strong and long-standing partnership.

Pakistan Navy provided assistance to Iranian Dhow at Open Sea

Islamabad, June 21, 2018 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Navy helicopter provided assistance to stranded Iranian Dhow in North Arabian Sea (NAS) 101 NM (187 KM) off Ormara. Upon receipt of information about distressed Dhow ‘Al Naeemi’ bearing flag of Islamic Republic of Iran with 13 x crew members (Fishermen) on-board, Pakistan Navy promptly responded and launched search and rescue operation.

After rigorous search efforts in prevailing rough sea conditions at open sea, the stranded dhow was located. The boat crew was dehydrated and also required medical care and edibles. Pakistan Navy rescue team on-board helicopter provided edibles and medicines to the crew members of the Iranian fishing dhow. Besides safeguarding maritime interests of Pakistan, Pakistan Navy has always been at the forefront to provide Humanitarian Assistance at sea.

Procedure for Repatriation of liquid assets and Deposit of Tax under Foreign Assets (Declaration and Repatriation) Act, 2018

Karachi, June 21, 2018 (PPI-OT): Reference the SBP Notification No. FD/1704/2011/2018 dated April 16, 2018 on the subject. In order to facilitate the prospective declarants in payment of the tax against declaration of foreign assets under Foreign Assets (Declaration and Repatriation) Act, 2018, following additions/amendments have been made in the payment procedure:

I. The tax payment can be made through banking channels either from the declarants’ own accounts or from the accounts of the declarants’ immediate family members i.e. his/her parents, children, spouse and siblings (brothers and sisters). In case of payment through the immediate family members’ accounts, the declarant while sending the copies of PSID, Form ‘A’ etc. to SBP for generation of CPR, shall also send satisfactory documentary evidence to establish the relationship.

II. The balances in foreign currency accounts of the declarants or their immediate family members being maintained with banks in Pakistan as of 31st March 2018 or 20th June 2018, whichever is less, can also be used for the purpose of tax payment.

III. The declarants having bank accounts outside Pakistan but presently residing in Pakistan can also pay the tax in US Dollar by depositing the US Dollar denominated cheques with the authorized branches of National Bank of Pakistan in Pakistan for collecting the proceeds for onward credit to SBP account in NBP New York. While NBP has been advised to make special arrangements for expeditious collection of the cheque proceeds, it may take 7-10 days in collection of the proceeds. The declarants using this payment option should be aware of possible delays in collection of the proceeds. The SBP shall issue the CPR on realization of funds in its account.

IV. The tax payment can be made within three days of generation of PSID.

V. The FBR’s web link given in SBP Notification dated 16th April 2018for generation of PSID has been replaced with https://e.fbr.gov.pk.

The rest of the mechanism as prescribed through the SBP Notification dated16th April, 2018 will remain the same. The SBP has also issued FAQs on the payment procedure which have been placed at SBP website http://www.sbp.org.pk.

Complete shutdown observed in IOK against killings

Srinagar, June 21, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed, today, against the continued killing spree by the Indian troops in the territory. Call for the shutdown was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. It was also aimed at registering protest against the cold-blooded murder of veteran Kashmiri journalist, Shujaat Bukhari. All shops, business establishments and educational institutions remained closed while traffic was off the road.

Indian police arrested Muhammad Yasin Malik after raiding his residence in Maisuma area of Srinagar early morning today and lodged him at Kothibagh Police Station. The occupation authorities put other Hurriyat leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Hilal Ahmed War, Bilal Siddiqi, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, Zafar Akbar Butt and Javaid Ahmed Mir under house arrest or in custody to prevent them from leading demonstrations against the killings. The detention of Hurriyat leaders was condemned by the APHC and the Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in their statements. The authorities also suspended train services across the Kashmir Valley.

Syed Ali Gilani telephonically addressing from Srinagar the mourners of a martyred youth, Aadil Ahmed Lone, at Pinjora in Tral area of Pulwama district paid tributes to him and other youth recently killed by the troops. He said that the Kashmiri youth were laying their lives for achieving freedom from Indian bondage and reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve to take the ongoing freedom movement to its logical conclusion. Hurriyat leaders, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and Zamruda Habib, in their statements said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go waste and their mission would be accomplished at all costs.

Indian troops launched a cordon and search operation in Kachipora area of Pulwama district, today, causing huge inconvenience to the local people. The troops also ruthlessly beat up an ATM guard of Jammu and Kashmir Bank identified as Hilal Ahmed Parrey in Kundalan area of Shopian district without any reason. He was admitted in a hospital with the marks of beating and bruises.

Indian troops launch cordon operation in Pulwama

Srinagar, June 21, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops have launched a cordon and search operation in Pulwama district. The troops cordoned off Kachipora village in Rajpora area of the district and started door-to-door searches, causing huge inconvenience to the local people. The operation continued till reports last came in. On the other hand, an unidentified male body was recovered from Bund Bilal Colony area of Srinagar.
