Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and Intelligence Bureau to collaborate in taking action against tax evasion on sugar sales, undocumented sales, and price hikes. According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the commencement of the sugar crushing season and emphasized the necessity of ensuring complete GST collection from sugar mills and dealers. The Prime Minister has also decided to install cameras at sugar mills as a preventive measure against hoarding, aiming to stabilize prices. He issued a stern warning of strict legal actions against sugar mill owners found guilty of tax evasion and hoarding. Shehbaz Sharif further asserted that any increase in sugar prices would be unacceptable. In addition to the sugar industry, the Prime Minister extended similar directives to other sectors such as steel, cigarettes, cement, and beverages. A notification outlining these decisions has been issued.
