Tehran: US strikes on Iran have intensified, spreading from the Strait of Hormuz to multiple locations in central and southern Iran. Iran has retaliated by targeting US Gulf allies, further straining the already fragile cease-fire. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that it carried out another round of strikes against Iran, marking the seventh consecutive night of military actions aimed at degrading Iranian military capabilities as directed by the Commander in Chief. According to Radio Free Europe Radio Liberty, these US attacks targeted surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage, and maritime capabilities using fighter aircraft, aerial drones, and warships. The strategic Strait of Hormuz has seen a significant reduction in traffic due to ongoing military actions by both the US and Iran. Iranian state-run media reported multiple attacks by US forces, including in regions distant from the Strait, such as Yazd, Ahvaz, and Khuzestan Province. In Hormozgan Province , which borders the Strait, several transportation routes were reportedly blocked following attacks on major roads, bridges, and a transport tunnel. Iranian media also reported that five bridges were struck in the south, resulting in seven fatalities in Bandar Khamir, where a train station and an airport in Iranshahr were also impacted. Iranian Major General Mohsen Rezaei has threatened the resumption of "full-scale offensive operations" should US strikes persist. He stated that Iran would no longer limit itself to retaliatory acts, potentially escalating the conflict further. Meanwhile, US-allied Gulf states have reported incoming Iranian missiles and drones, causing injuries and damages to civilian infrastructure. The Iranian news agency IRIB reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) navy targeted a Thai-flagged ship attempting to traverse the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has also targeted Gulf countries that host US airbases, including Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait. An attack on a Kuwaiti Army f acility resulted in injuries among personnel, and damage to power-generation units at an electricity and water desalination plant was reported. In the northern Indian Ocean, Iran's navy launched a cruise missile toward a US vessel, causing it to retreat. The passage rate through the Strait of Hormuz has dwindled, with only eight ships passing through on July 16, a sharp decline from the 48 vessels two weeks prior. The disruptions to the Strait, a vital corridor for global oil and gas supplies, underscore the far-reaching implications of the escalating conflict.
