Mari Energies Discovers Gas At Tibri-1 After Long Security Halt

Mari Energies Limited has announced a fresh gas discovery at the Tibri-1 exploratory well in Balochistan's Dera Bugti district, marking a significant development in an area where exploration had remained suspended for an extended period due to security challenges. In a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the company confirmed that the discovery was made at Tibri-1, the first exploratory well drilled in the Kalchas South Block. The well was spudded on November 11, 2025 and drilled to a total depth of 7,170 feet. The Kalchas South joint venture is operated by United Energy Pakistan Limited, which holds a 46% working interest. Mari Energies Limited has a 44% stake, while Dewan Petroleum (Private) Limited retains the remaining 10%. Initial testing targeted the Dunghan/Sui Main Limestone formation. At a 64/64-inch choke, the well produced 11 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas at a wellhead flowing pressure of 561 pounds per square inch gauge. At a 32/64-inch choke, output measured 6.5 MMSCFD with a wellhead flowing pressure of 1,161 psig. The company stated that further evaluation is under way to determine the well's full production potential. Exploration in the region had been halted for a prolonged period because of security concerns. Operations resumed after the joint venture acquired working interest from Dewan Petroleum in July 2023, paving the way for drilling at Tibri-1. Mari Energies described the find as consistent with the joint venture's objective of advancing domestic hydrocarbon development and reinforcing efforts to expand Pakistan's indigenous gas supply.
