Kuwait Pledges Fuel Supply Support To Pakistan Amid Shipping Disruptions

Kuwait has assured full facilitation for Pakistani oil vessels at a time of heightened regional uncertainty, offering support to safeguard fuel supplies disrupted by tensions in key shipping routes.

Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) committed to assisting Pakistani-flagged vessels in lifting diesel and jet fuel, following discussions between Ali Pervaiz Malik and the Kuwaiti ambassador, Nassar Abdulrahman Jasser Almutairi.

The assurance comes as KPC has declared force majeure on certain sales due to disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy corridor. The state-owned company manages Kuwait's hydrocarbon operations and accounts for roughly 7% of global crude oil production.

During the meeting, Pakistani officials highlighted the importance of Kuwait's continued support in maintaining energy security. The two sides discussed broader cooperation in the energy sector, alongside regional developments and bilateral relations.

Officials noted that Pakistan has sourced petroleum products, particularly diesel, from Kuwait for more than five decades, reflecting longstanding ties between the two countries.

The discussions also touched on regional stability, with Pakistan reiterating its commitment to peaceful conflict resolution and cooperation with Gulf countries. Both sides agreed to maintain close engagement to strengthen collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

The development underscores the strategic importance of energy partnerships as global supply chains face uncertainty due to geopolitical tensions affecting maritime trade routes.
