Islamabad: Dr. Shafqat Munir, an economist, highlighted the critical role of the digital economy in daily public life. He pointed out that people can now conduct business and financial transactions globally from the comfort of their homes using mobile phone apps. This shift has prompted the government to focus on digitalizing governance, aiming to improve governmental functions and extend benefits to the masses. Public inclusion in the digital economy is becoming a major trend at various levels. According to Radio Pakistan, Dr. Munir emphasized that the government must take trust-building measures to boost the confidence of the business community in government departments, thereby increasing revenue collection. He advocated for a mass advertisement campaign to educate the public on the importance of tax payments for government operations. Moreover, he suggested simplifying the tax return filing process to make it more accessible for the common man.
