Punjab Revenue Authority Surpasses Rs220 Billion Mark With Sharp Tax Growth

Punjab's tax authority has recorded a sharp rise in revenue collection, exceeding Rs220bn in eight months and marking a substantial increase over the previous fiscal year.

Punjab Revenue Authority reported that collections during July-February of the current fiscal year rose by more than Rs63bn compared to Rs156.3bn in the same period last year. The figures were reviewed during a high-level meeting chaired by Moazzam Iqbal Sipra.

Officials attributed the increase partly to the expansion of new tax sectors, which has broadened the revenue base. The authority also highlighted improved performance across regional offices, with Lahore and Faisalabad divisions noted for meeting monthly targets.

The chairperson indicated that further administrative reforms are planned to sustain the upward trend and achieve what officials describe as the highest tax collection target in Punjab's history.

The latest figures underscore efforts to strengthen provincial finances through structural adjustments and enhanced enforcement, as authorities seek to improve fiscal capacity and revenue mobilisation.
