Pakistan and China are moving to address mounting security concerns among Chinese investors, with plans for a dedicated business conference and the creation of a specialised protection unit.
According to an official statement, Mohsin Naqvi met with Jiang Zaidong to discuss a range of issues including counter-terrorism, security cooperation, police exchanges and the broader regional situation.
A key outcome of the meeting was the decision to organise a business conference aimed at engaging Chinese stakeholders. In its first phase, discussions will be held with Chinese companies already operating in Pakistan. The second phase will focus on potential investors considering entry into the market.
The initiative comes alongside plans to strengthen on-ground security arrangements. The interior minister announced the establishment of a 'Special Protection Unit' tasked with ensuring the safety of foreign nationals, particularly Chinese citizens in Islamabad.
Personnel assigned to the unit will also receive training in the Chinese language, indicating a targeted approach to addressing investor concerns.
The measures underscore efforts by both countries to reassure existing and prospective investors, amid growing attention to security conditions affecting foreign business operations in Pakistan.
