Pakistan's car sales surged by 41.73% in the first half of FY2025-26, signalling a sharp rebound in the auto market as total unit sales climbed to 65,910 compared with 46,502 in the same period last year.
Data released by the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA) show broad-based growth across major brands during July-December 2025-26. The increase marks a significant recovery in automobile demand compared with the corresponding months of the previous fiscal year.
Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris recorded combined sales of 16,720 units, up 73.57% from 9,633 units a year earlier. Honda car sales also rose markedly, advancing 58.71% to 10,164 units from 6,404 units.
Suzuki Swift posted one of the strongest gains, with sales nearly doubling to 6,944 units from 3,584 units, reflecting a 93.75% increase. Hyundai Elantra deliveries more than doubled, reaching 1,246 units compared with 603 units last year.
Hyundai Sonata sales grew by 23.59%, rising to 330 units from 267 units during the months under review. Suzuki Cultus also reported a substantial improvement, with sales climbing to 2,468 units from 1,130 units.
Suzuki Alto remained a high-volume contributor, with 24,101 units sold compared with 19,594 units in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
In addition to conventional models, 139 units of the newly launched Dewan Honri-VE electric vehicle were sold during July-December 2025-26, marking a modest entry of electric mobility into the domestic market.
The latest figures suggest a revival in Pakistan's automotive sector during the first half of the fiscal year, with rising unit sales across multiple categories contributing to overall industry growth.
