Car Sales and Production Surge Over 50 Percent Amid Market Revival

Pakistan's automobile sector has staged a sharp recovery, with car production and sales rising by more than 50% and 45% respectively during the current fiscal year, signalling a strong rebound in consumer demand.

Data released by the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturers Association show that car sales climbed by 45.53% to 97,900 units during July-February 2025-26, compared with 67,267 units in the same period last year. Production outpaced sales growth, increasing by 52.31% to 104,652 units from 68,708 units.

The surge was broad-based across models. Sales of Honda cars rose by 49.91% to 15,389 units, while combined sales of Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris jumped by 75.70% to 23,900 units. Suzuki Swift recorded an even sharper increase of 99.33%, reaching 10,555 units.

Suzuki Alto remained the top-selling car, with sales climbing to 36,694 units from 28,194 units, underscoring continued demand in the small-car segment.

The strongest percentage growth was recorded by Suzuki Every, whose sales surged by 250.03% to 5,520 units from 1,577 units, reflecting rising demand in light commercial and transport uses. Meanwhile, 210 units of the Dewan Honri-VE electric vehicle were sold during the period, indicating early signs of a shift towards electric mobility.

Production trends mirrored sales. Output of Honda cars rose by 57.77% to 15,880 units, while Toyota Corolla and Yaris production increased by 76.85% to 24,475 units. Suzuki Swift production nearly doubled, climbing by 96.46% to 10,684 units.

Hyundai Elantra production increased to 2,142 units, and Suzuki Cultus output rose to 3,125 units. Suzuki Alto production reached 43,798 units, maintaining its lead in volume terms. Suzuki Every production also edged up by 6.37% to 3,905 units. Additionally, 208 units of the Dewan Honri-VE electric vehicle were produced during the eight-month period.

The figures point to a broad-based revival in the automotive market, with rising volumes across multiple segments. The expansion reflects strengthening demand conditions, although the pace of growth varies across models and categories.
