Ahsan Iqbal Advocates for Enhanced Investment Initiatives in Gwadar.


Islamabad: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has emphasized the necessity of launching additional projects via public-private partnerships to transform Gwadar into an appealing hub for investors. During a review meeting focused on the progress of the Gwadar Port Free Zone Development held in Islamabad, Iqbal highlighted the strategic importance of these initiatives.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ahsan Iqbal also instructed relevant departments to promptly address land disputes in the Gwadar Free Zone, adhering to agreements with the China Overseas Port Holding Company. He underscored the urgency of accelerating China-Pakistan Economic Corridor infrastructure projects to improve Gwadar’s connectivity, which is crucial for the region’s economic advancement.

The Minister called for the immediate release of allocated funds to complete the M-8 motorway in two segments within this year. This step is seen as vital for enhancing the region’s transportation infrastructure. Additionally, he directed the Quetta Electric Su
pply Company to finalize pending transmission lines within three months, a move aimed at bolstering Gwadar’s power supply and supporting its growing infrastructure needs.

To create a conducive investment climate, Iqbal suggested offering incentives to attract a variety of companies to Gwadar. This approach is intended to foster a favorable environment for businesses seeking opportunities in the region. Furthermore, he mandated the formulation of a comprehensive roadmap to implement the Gwadar Master Plan over the next three years, ensuring sustainable development and growth for the area.
