Utility Stores Corporation reduces 133 items price by 5.38pc

Islamabad: The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has further slashed the prices of 133 basic items by about 5.38 percent.

The decision was made on the occasion of visit of Senior Federal Minister for Industries and Defence Production Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, President Pakistan Muslim League-Q Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Advisor to Prime Minister on Industries and Production Raja Basharat to the head office of USC on Thursday.

Managing Director USC Arif Khan briefed the visiting personalities about the performance of the Corporation and about the relief being provided to the public.

Arif Khan said that the Corporation has reduced the prices on its own and in the open market no reduction in the prices was made.

Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain directed the Corporation’s authorities to make a comprehensive plan for the upcoming holy month of Ramazan and during the month the Corporation should provide maximum relief to the public.

On the special direction of Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, it was decided in the meeting that henceforth 20 kg bag of wheat flour would be sold at Rs20 less than the open market rate, cooking oil and ghee would be sold Rs8 per kg less than the market rate and sugar is already being sold at Rs10-15 per kg discount at all the outlets across the country.

The Corporation has reduced the price of dal masoor from Rs92 to Rs85 per kg, dal channa from Rs66 to Rs64, masoor whole from Rs82 to Rs75 per kg, moong whashed from Rs144 to Rs138, mash whole from Rs132 to Rs120 per kg while the price of black gram was reduced from Rs65 to Rs60 per kg.

Besides this, the USC also reduced the prices of ghee, cooking oil, beverages, milk, bath soap, insecticides, shampoo and other commodities by Rs5 to Rs13.
