Mobilink witnesses a growth of 17% in Q3, 2016 results

Islamabad, November 07, 2016 (PPI-OT):Mobilink Witnesses a Growth of 17% in Q3, 2016 Results. Mobilink posted a strong positive growth of 17% on its YoY organic revenue for the quarter ended 30 September 2016 (Q3 2016) driven by growth in all revenue streams. For the same period, the company has reported PKR 38.5 billion post-merger consolidated revenue for both companies, up from PKR 25.9 billion as reported in Q3 2015.

Mobilink’s ascent was driven by a data revenue growth of 71% YoY mainly due to successful data monetization initiatives, including attractive bundle offers and the unification of the tariff portfolio, together with continued 3G network expansion.

Mobilink also witnessed a higher Mobile Financial Services (MFS) YoY revenue increase of 42% thanks to new over-the-counter (“OTC”) products and higher agent activity. “We are pleased to report third quarter results that reflect stronger customer demand and business performance. Our stand-alone revenues have shown an increase of 17% owing to the strength of Jazz services portfolio and our ever growing subscriber base.”

He further added, Underlying EBITDA margin, excluding integration costs related to the Warid transaction, was 42% in Q3 2016, supported by Warid’s improved margin resulting from the progress of integration activities. Capex increased to PKR 7.6 billion in Q3 2016 with a LTM capex to revenue ratio of 15.9%, driven by integration expenses. LTM operating cash flow margin was 27.2% in Q3 2016.

This growth follows Mobilink’s successful completion of Pakistan’s largest telecommunications merger, a deal it closed during July 2016. Apart from already realizing post-merger synergies of PKR 500 million, the Telco has been able to facilitate its subscribers through the introduction of On-net packages, whereby more than 50 million customers will be able to talk On-Net between Jazz and Warid numbers.

Mobilink is focused on the post transaction integration. Moving ahead, it will provide an opportunity to Jazz’s existing customers to utilize LTE on their devices. While, Warid customers, who previously could only switch between LTE and EDGE, will get to experience Jazz’s exceptional 3G service. This is in-line with Mobilink’s strategy of providing customers with a digital lifestyle along with a rich portfolio of products and services.

JazzCash partners with Tranglo to Enable International Money Transfer

Islamabad, October 18, 2016 (PPI-OT):JazzCash has announced a partnership with Tranglo, a global cross-border digital remittance hub. Following the collaboration, residents of the United Kingdom can send remittances for cash collection or deposit directly to JazzCash mobile accounts.

Through the partnership, Tranglo’s global network of money service / remittance providers can now offer international money transfer service to JazzCash users. LycaRemit becomes the launch partner to enable mobile / electronic remittances from the UK to JazzCash mobile accounts and cash collection centres as well. This move ensures that the country’s unbanked segment will have an access to a bank account through their mobiles.

Speaking about the partnership, Aniqa Afzal Sandhu, VP – Digital and Mobile Financial Services, Mobilink, stated: “We are excited to embark on the next phase of our journey to digitalize our customers’ financial needs in a convenient and reliable manner by joining hands with Tranglo. This collaboration will allow people living in the UK to directly transfer remittances to their loved ones, who may be unable to access a bank in their area. Through such partnerships, we look forward to further empowering our rapidly increasing Mobile Account customers with access to retail and online payments.”

By utilizing this initiative, customers receiving international remittances in JazzCash Mobile Accounts can cash-out at more than 65,000 retailers and 10,000 automated teller machines (ATMs) across the country. The partnership also enables Malaysia-based Max Money, Unique Change and Incentive Remit to transfer money transfer to JazzCash mobile accounts. Going forward, Tranglo will enable more partners in the United Kingdom, Malaysia and make the JazzCash service available in Singapore, Spain and the Gulf countries in 2017.

JazzCash and Access Group partner for Retail Payment Acceptance

Islamabad, September 01, 2016 (PPI-OT):JazzCash has announced a strategic alliance with Access Group for nationwide retail payment acceptance. Expanding the reach of payments, this collaboration will utilize state-of-the-art digital methods for acceptance of JazzCash at designated retail outlets on Access Group’s network.

One such payment method to be promoted under this agreement is JazzCash’s recently launched near field communication (NFC) payment solution. This technology has gained popularity in both developed and developing markets primarily due to its ability to improve customer experience, security and merchant sales.

The partnership will also assist JazzCash in scaling up merchant payments throughout the country as it looks to serve as a foundation stone towards mobile payment eco system. In first phase, NFC and USSD payments will be accepted at 500+ retail outlets in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

In phase two of the partnership, JazzCash will add QR codes to its financial suite which will enable customers to pay seamlessly by simply scanning the unique QR code. Along with the NFC, USSD and QR code the partnership will cover more than 10,000 retail outlets nationwide.

Mobilink tops 10 million 3G users

Islamabad, August 30, 2016 (PPI-OT):Mobilink has surpassed another milestone after announcing that it now serves more than 10 million 3G subscribers. In addition, Mobilink has also become the first Telco to have 20 million Data subscribers (both on 2G and 3G) throughout Pakistan.

In the month of July 2016, Mobilink managed to add a total of 0.6 million 3G subscribers to its initial tally of 9.5 million. During the same period, the Telco added a total of 0.9 million Data subscribers to take the total tally to 20 million. The latest data ensures that Mobilink remains the market leader in terms of voice and 3G subscriber base.

JazzCash celebrates one million monthly active mobile accounts

JazzCash has seen its overall mobile account user base grow significantly in the past few months making it the fastest growing mobile money operator in Pakistan.
