September 11 declared ‘Sindh Occupational Safety and Health Day’

Karachi, September 11, 2018 (PPI-OT): On the occasion of the 6th anniversary of Baldia Fire Incident and to show solidarity with the victims, the Government of Sindh Labour and Human Resources Department has declared Sindh Occupational Safety and Health day on 11th of September of every year. This year to commemorate the martyrs of the said incident, the Department has brought a rally from the Head Office of the Directorate of Labour Sindh Karachi, which passes from the front of the gate of Sindh Assembly building and terminates at Karachi Press Club.

Besides large number of people from all walks of life, the occasion was the graced by the presence of Mr. Abid Hussain Zawawi Secretary Labour and HR. Department, Government of Sindh, Mr. Khadim Hussain Bhutto, Director Labour Sindh, Prominent Labour Leaders and Senior Representatives of Employers also attended the rally. At the end of the rally, the Secretary Labour highlighted the steps taken by the Government to improve the Health and Safety conditions at all workplace and expressed solidarity with the victims. The representatives of Employers and Workers also talked about the incident.

Slaughter houses to be monitored to curb Congo Virus: Dr Azra Pechuho

Karachi, September 04, 2018 (PPI-OT): Provincial Minister for Health and Population Welfare Department Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho has asked Livestock Department Sindh to spray animals coming from Balochistan at border check posts with tick repellent as a preventive measure to avoid Congo Virus infected animals from entering into Sindh. This she said while presiding over a joint meeting of health, livestock, local government departments and other stakeholders here in her office on Tuesday.

Additional Chief Secretary Dr Muhammad Usman Chachar, Director General Health Dr Mubeen and representatives of Livestock, KMC and other departments also attended the meeting. She said that only drastic measures could save the people from this lethal disease, adding that she asked to compile data regarding Congo Virus affected patients admitted in all major hospitals on daily basis and to submit it to Surveillance Cell so that a vigilant eye might be kept to counter the situation.

The provincial minister Dr Azra Pechuho also directed to compile data on daily basis regarding 12 infectious diseases and to spread awareness on these diseases was the need of the hour. She suggested Livestock department Sindh to spray in slaughterhouses in the metropolis on regular basis and all the butchers in the city must follow safety measures in order to curb Congo Virus.

She added, ‘ Unless we all stakeholders work on the same page, we will not be able to achieve our target to get a healthy society’. She also directed Dengue Control Program Manager to start anti larvicidal campaign to kill Dengue Larvae as well as smogging activity to reduce mosquito population and in this regard, a comprehensive program should be chalked out. Awareness campaign for the public is also to be launched.

Secretary Information and Archives Rasheed Solangi visits various Directorates of Information Department

Karachi, September 04, 2018 (PPI-OT): Secretary Information and Archives Rasheed Solangi on Wednesday visited all the Directorate of Information Department and instructed to the officers concerned regarding cleanliness and directed the officers and officials to be punctual and take interest in the performance of their official duties with zeal and honesty.

He visited different Directorates of Information Department like Press Information, Administration, Advertisement, Press, Films and Reference and Research and showed his displeasure on cleanliness and shabby furniture ordering the replacement of these immediately and those who remain absent or coming late will be facing disciplinary action. During his visit Director General (PRs), Director Press Information, Director Administration and Accounts and other officers were also accompanied with him.

No advance payments to contractors: Minster Minorities Affairs

Karachi, September 01, 2018 (PPI-OT): Sindh Minister for Minorities Affairs, Social Welfare and Prisons Hari Ram Kishori Lal has said that no compromise would be accepted on development schemes and directed to ensure transparency, quality and timely completion of projects. While presiding over meeting on development schemes of minority affairs department, Provincial minister ordered to stop all kind of advance payments to contractors.

He said that contracts should be awarded to reputed contractors on merit adding that no influence or pressure should be entertained in this regard. “I have no contractor”, minister made it clear to officers. He also directed officers to strengthen regular monitoring system of development schemes so as to ensure quality and timely completion of schemes. Provincial Minister Hari Ram said that black list contractor who failed to produce quality work and used substandard material in development schemes.

“Planning of development schemes should be carried out in consultation with local Hindu Community, he said and added that it must be verified that applicant had the owner rights of land while constructing temples in rural areas of Sindh. Secretary Minorities Affairs Tameezuddin Khero, Exen Riaz Bhutto and Assistant Engineers of Minorities Affairs Department attended the meeting.
