SIALKOT: There is a great scope of growth of value-added garments industry in export-oriented city, as it is also a centre of garments’ value addition, introducing the international standard martial arts garments, as the city is now producing World’s 40 percent quality martial arts garments.
The larger scale growth of Sialkot’s value-added garments industry could be possible, through the early solution of the basic problems being faced by this industry, as the exports of value added garments could be enhanced to Rs.12 billion from Rs. 8 billions.
Provision of middle management and trained & skilled labour is vital for expanding garments industry for giving the maximum job opportunities to the labour, as there is a great scope for skilled women labour force. Well trained and skilled labour would only be the survival point of the garments industry in future.
Early establishment of Garments Training Institution and an international standard Textile Industry at Sialkot is need of the day and vital for producing trained & skilled labour force for the industry. Government should make all-out efforts to boost the industry. Garments exporters should also focus on enhancing the exports of value-added garments, besides preparing them to meet the global challenges of WTO through increasing the quality of exportable by changing the Old Trade Strategies.
