Russian president, Iraqi PM discuss bilateral cooperation in various issues

Moscow (UNA-OIC) – Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation on Monday with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, where they expressed mutual interest in consistently developing the traditionally friendly ties between the two countries.
President Putin and Premier Al-Kadhimi also discussed a number of topical issues related to bilateral cooperation in trade, the economy and energy industry, the Kremlin said in a statement.
The two sides spoke about coordinated efforts to stabilize the global oil market. They gave a positive assessment of the agreements reached in the OPEC+ format with the participation of Russia and Iraq that are aimed at overcoming the acute phase of the oil crisis.
On the regional agenda, Putin and Al-Kaghimi focused on the settlement in Syria, where they agreed to coordinate their steps to ensure a lasting normalization in the war-torn country, as well as restoring its sovereignty and territorial integrity, according to the statement.
