Refinery sales surge by 8 percent

KARACHI: Refinery sales during the first four months of the current fiscal year continued to stay strong as it went up by eight percent with healthy increase in Mogas, which went up by 12 percent, kerosene by 17 percent and diesel registered a raise of 20 percent, data revealed on Thursday.

On the other hand, furnace oil sales went down by four percent, eventually keeping the sector’s white oil yield improving by 20 percent over the period, it said.

Refinery sales went down by 12 percent in October with monthly trend further showing a sharper decline in Mogas and HSD sales that went down by 30 percent and 16 percent, respectively.

Likewise, the sector’s white oil yield went down by 32 percent though, it is still better-off against the same month last year, it said.

Further downstream, overall sales by the oil marketing companies (OMCs) during October went up by 27 percent with 48 percent jump in the furnace oil sales.
