Protest rally in Muzaffarabad against state terrorism in IOK

Srinagar, July 15, 2016 (PPI-OT):Hundreds of people held a protest rally here at the Azadi Chowk, today, against the killing of over 40 people including the Hizbul Mujahideen top commander, Burhan Wani and injuring of more than 1,800 people in occupied Kashmir at the hands of Indian forces in the last one week.

The protesters on the occasion appealed to the United Nations, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the civilized world and the international human rights organizations to intervene and help stop the Indian state terrorism in occupied Kashmir. The demonstrators on the occasion also announced that if the United Nations and the world community did not fulfill their responsibilities, the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir would defy the Line of Control (LoC) to help their brethren in the occupied territory. The demonstrators also burnt the Indian flag and the effigy of Indian Army Chief and raised high-pitched anti-India and pro-freedom slogans.

Addressing the protest rally, the political and religious leaders, representatives of civil society, Hurriyet leaders, Director of Liberation Cell, Raja Mohammad Sajjad Khan, Vice Chairman of International Forum for Justice and Human Rights, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Aziz Ahmad Ghazali, Abdul Aziz Alvi, Qazi Shahid Hameed, Showkat Javed Mir, Raja Saqib Majeed, Barrister Iftikhar Gilani, Khawaja Farooq Ahmad, Idrees Abbasi, Abdurrazaq Khan, Javed Ayub, Rahat Farooq Advocate and others said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs including Burhan Wani would not be allowed to go waste. They said that Burhan Wani existed in every house of occupied Kashmir and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

They assured the APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, and Hurriyet leaders, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik that the people of AJK camp were on their backs and would not leave them alone in the hour of trial.

Later, the protesters marched towards the UN Observers Office and presented a memorandum there, urging the United Nations to implement its resolutions on Kashmir so that permanent peace could be established in the South Asian region.
