Prime Minister says World Economic Forum important to discuss economic issues, promote cooperation with various countries

Islamabad: Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani who left Wednesday for Davos‚ Switzerland to attend World Economic Forum WEF, said it provides important platform to discuss economic issues and promote cooperation with various countries.

Talking to newsmen at Chaklala Air base before leaving, he said in Davos‚ he will host reception for WEF participants in order to have closer interaction to find ways to promote greater cooperation with different countries.

He said he would also meet world leaders to discuss global economic issues, participate in interactive session on climate and share Pakistan’s experience of handling natural disasters. About 40 heads of state and government, leading businessmen, industrialists from around the world will attend WEF whose theme this year is The Great Transformation: Shaping New Model.

Answering a question, Prime Minister said that despite global recession‚ Pakistan’s economic growth has witnessed an increase in recent months.

Asked about his meeting on Tuesday with Foreign Minister Ms Hina Rabbani Khar and Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani‚ Gilani said he discussed issues ranging from national security to Afghanistan.
