NEW YORK: At the United Nations, Pakistan has called for boosting efforts to prevent an arms race in outer space. Speaking at the UN General Assembly, Gul Qaiser Sarwani, Counsellor in the Pakistan Mission to the United Nations, emphasized the critical need for international cooperation to mitigate the potential threats posed by militarization beyond the Earth's atmosphere. According to Radio Pakistan, Sarwani highlighted the grave implications of an arms race in outer space, warning that its fallout would ripple across all domains of life with devastating consequences. The Pakistani delegate pointed out that the interplay between defensive and offensive capabilities in space is undermining strategic stability at both global and regional levels, stressing the urgency for concrete measures to address this issue.
