Pakistan Single Window Takes Cross-Border Trade Services To Smartphones

Pakistan Single Window (PSW) has launched a mobile application giving importers, exporters and customs clearing agent's smartphone access to customs-clearance updates, payments and regulatory services, reducing their dependence on desktop systems for managing cross-border trade. The application is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store and extends PSW's existing digital platform to mobile devices. Designed for Pakistan's trading community, the app allows users to monitor the progress of declarations, track regulatory-compliance activities and receive real-time information on customs clearance.

Its functions extend beyond simply checking the status of consignments. Traders can view regulatory and financial certificates and carry out a range of time-sensitive actions directly through their smartphones. These include requests for declaration cancellation and dray-off, provincial cess exemptions or waivers and the release of bank guarantees. Users can also initiate other operational requests through the system.

Payments form another part of the mobile platform. The application enables traders to generate Payment Slip IDs, or PSIDs, review paid and outstanding PSIDs and access payment details. Users can also make payments through linked Personal Deposit accounts, bringing financial and trade-management functions together within the same mobile service. The app is intended to complement PSW's wider digital ecosystem rather than replace it. Its principal change is to allow traders and their representatives to manage important parts of the clearance process without being tied to desktop-based operations. For business executives, logistics managers and supply-chain teams, this means access to trade information and transaction updates regardless of their workplace or geographical location. The availability of such information on mobile devices is also intended to make it easier for businesses to respond to regulatory requirements and complete outstanding actions promptly.

PSW said easier access could improve operational planning and contribute to quicker clearance of both imported consignments and export shipments. By placing declaration monitoring, compliance information, certificates, operational requests and payment functions on smartphones, the new application broadens digital access to Pakistan's cross-border trade system and gives traders a single mobile point for overseeing several stages of their transactions.
