Pakistan Cables Limited has won an industry award for its solar DC cables for the second year running. The company was named the sole winner in the solar DC cables category at the 3rd International Solar Technology Excellence Awards 2026, organised by Energy Updates in Lahore.
Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, Punjab's energy minister, presented the award. Qasim uz Zaman Bajwa, the company's senior manager for project sales, accepted it on the firm's behalf.
According to the organisers, the award recognises the company's contribution to Pakistan's growing solar-energy sector through its DC cables, which connect solar panels to the rest of a solar power system.
The company also cites international certifications. It says it was the first Pakistani manufacturer to obtain TÜV Rheinland certification for locally made halogen-free, low-smoke solar DC cables, tested to EN 50618 and IEC 62930 standards.
Earlier this year, it also became the first company in Pakistan to have its 35kV medium-voltage cables successfully type-tested by KEMA Labs in the Netherlands.
The award is an industry recognition rather than an independent assessment of market performance, and no sales or market-share figures were disclosed. However, the company's international certifications show that some local cable manufacturers are seeking to meet international standards as demand for solar equipment grows.
