Jubilee General Insurance Launches Rewards for Clients Who Reduce Their Risks

A Pakistani insurer has explained plainly why it wants clients to prevent losses: doing so protects its own finances. Jubilee General Insurance Company Limited (JGI) has launched a Resilience Rewards Programme for long-standing corporate clients with strong safety and risk-management records. Azfar Arshad, its managing director and chief executive, said helping clients invest in prevention reduces the frequency and severity of losses and also protects the insurer’s balance sheet.

The programme will recognise clients that consistently maintain high risk standards. It focuses on protecting employees, preventing fires, safeguarding machinery and preparing for natural catastrophes.

Eligibility depends on each organisation’s record of resilience and how consistently it has followed risk-reduction recommendations made by Jubilee General’s risk-management team.

Mr Arshad said insurers should treat investment in resilience as more than a customer service. In his view, it is also a strategic way to ensure business continuity and long-term sustainability.

The company’s risk-management department is staffed by qualified engineers specialising in safety and fire protection. They carry out detailed surveys to identify existing risks and those that remain after safety measures are in place, then make recommendations tailored to each client’s operations.

The team also helps clients implement those recommendations and strengthen their risk-reduction and resilience plans. JGI says this reflects its approach of preventing losses rather than simply paying claims after they occur.

The company did not say what the rewards will include, whether they involve lower premiums or how many clients qualify. Without those details, it is unclear how strongly the scheme will encourage businesses to improve safety. Its stated aim, however, is to make prevention commercially attractive for both clients and the insurer.
