Najam-us-Saqib for rectifying widespread misconceptions about Pakistan’s security

Karachi, December 27 2013 (PPI-OT): Pakistan’s High Commissioner – Designate to South Africa (Pretoria), Najam-us-Saqib has stressed the need to rectify the widespread misconceptions around the globe about Pakistan’s overall security situation.

He added that the security situation in some of the most developed countries is worse than Pakistan but unfortunately, Pakistan suffers terribly as the incidents of law and order situation in some perturbed areas were being over projected by the media, resulting in tarnishing the image of the country.

Talking to the office bearers and Managing Committee members of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) during his visit to the chamber on Thursday, Najam-us-Saqib stressed that the media must act responsibility and besides giving coverage to the incidents of law and order situation, they must also highlight the success stories, peaceful cities and scenic sights in Pakistan, which will certainly help in rectifying various misconceptions about Pakistan.

President KCCI, Abdullah Zaki, Senior Vice President KCCI, Muffasar A. Malik, Vice President KCCI, Muhammad Idrees and Managing Committee members were also present on the occasion.

Najam-us-Saqib further said that huge potential for Pakistani products exists in South Africa where Pakistani businessmen can exports almost all locally manufactured goods, make investments and undertake joint ventures. He assured full support to the Pakistani businessmen willing to do business in South Africa.

Commenting on his new assignment in S. Africa, Najam-us-Saqib said that he will be focusing on reinforcing Pakistan’s presence in the South African market in order to further strengthen trade ties between the two countries.

Replying to various concerns raised by KCCI members over poor performance of Commercial attachés and officers in various Pakistani Embassies abroad, he advised KCCI members to forward their specific complaints to the Ministry of Commerce and was fairly optimistic that the ministry will act against such officers for their incompetence.

Speaking on the occasion, President KCCI briefed the Pakistani High Commissioner about the overall functioning of KCCI and its membership base. Abdullah Zaki said that Karachi Chamber is utilizing all its resources to strengthen ties with countries around the world by maintaining excellent coordination with various embassies, consulates and commercial attachés within and outside Pakistan.

The Chamber also highlights numerous issues being faced by the business community with all the concerned authorities in Islamabad. “We approach the all high-ups in Islamabad including the Prime Minister House and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar so that the issues could be immediately resolved”, he added.

He also requested the High Commissioner to support KCCI in promoting KCCI’s forthcoming My Karachi – Oasis of Harmony Exhibition, which will provide a perfect platform for business to business meetings between Pakistan and South African business communities.
