Minister Jam Kamal Khan leading a delegation to Kazakhstan for participation in second International Participants Meeting

Karachi, February 25, 2016 (PPI-OT): Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Jam Kamal Khan is leading a delegation to Kazakhstan for participation in the second International Participants Meeting (IPM) to be held at Astana on 25-25 February. The delegation comprising Secretary TDAP Ms. Rabiya Agha Javeri, Ambassador of Pakistan, Abdul Salik Khan, and other officials separately called on today the First Vice Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan and Commissioner for Expo-2017, Mr Rapil Zhoshybayev and Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Africa, Mr. Askar Massinov.

The first Vice Foreign Minister and Deputy Foreign Minister warmly welcomed Pakistan’s delegation and emphasized that current level of bilateral trade is not reflective of existing trade potential between the two countries. Enhancing people to people contacts and improving connectivity between the two countries could help in realization of bilateral trade potential. Kazakhstan side also appreciated the efforts and resolve of the present government in strengthening of bilateral relations.

The Kazakhstan Ministers also appreciated Pakistan participation in the Expo 2017 as it would provide opportunities to the businessmen of the both countries in exploring new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries. They hoped that Pakistan Pavilion at Expo 2017 would take full advantage of the event in showcasing the Pakistan products, culture and cuisines.

Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Jam Kamal Khan highlighted the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif vision of strengthening of trade relations with the Central Asian States. He reiterated the linking of trade routes in Kazakhstan with China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and also invited the Kazakh businessmen to participate in Texpo Pakistan scheduled to be held at Karachi from 7th-10th April 2016.

The Minister also requested for Kazakhstan side active participation in recent TDAP’s initiative of holding a series of “Road Shows” across Central Asian States capitals as a follow up to Prime Minister of Pakistan visit. The road shows would provide a platform for interaction not only between the businessmen of two countries but would also present Pakistan culture and cuisine to the people of Central Asia. Minister also shared with his counterparts his efforts for increasing connectivity between two countries in the form of direct flights and emphasized at the end that movement of people would be followed by movement of goods.
