Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry sign deal to establish vocational institute

Karachi, December 07, 2012 (PPI-OT): Vocational and Technical Training Institute of international standard was being established under the mutual cooperation between KMC and Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) where youngsters in various technical and vocational sectors will be provided with high standard trainings. In this connection a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the office of FPCCI was signed by KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed and President of FPCCI Haji Fazal Kadir Sherani on Friday.

On this occasion renowned personalities associated with trade and industry and KMC high officials were present.

Administrator Karachi said that a training center naming Center of Excellence was being established in Bahadurabad where youngsters will be provided with different types of trainings such as English language, computer literacy, textile designing, electrical and mechanical training, cooking, beautification, mobile repairing, computer hardware and other trainings whereas the experts of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality under an agreement will provide trainees with important trainings who later on will serve in various sectors.

In this connection an (MoU) for vocational trainings and technical sectors between KMC and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality had already been signed and under this three year agreement IMM will provide cooperation for improving the standard of vocational and technical trainings in Karachi.

Administrator Karachi said that it was necessary to provide youngsters with trainings according to modern requirements which will be fulfilled by the mutual cooperation of IMM. He said that a huge part of population was jobless and suffering from various problems if they were provided with technical and vocational trainings, they would get their bread and butter which will bring peace not only in the city but in whole country as well since unemployment and financial crises were also a cause of unrest therefore it was very necessary to provide youngsters with positive and constructive activities.

He said the vocational and technical trainings starting in Karachi under Center of Excellence will expand in 18 towns gradually which will benefit youngsters. He said this would be the first vocational training center in Karachi where youngsters would have better opportunities to improve their career.

He also invites traders and industrialists to visit the city with KMC and give their vision for the development of Karachi. KMC in spite of its limited resources will continue every possible effort for development and prosperity of the city.

FPCCI president Haji Fazal Kadir Sherani on this occasion said that FPCCI was the biggest federation of Pakistan which not only protect interests of traders and industrialists but also plays a vital role in social and economic development.

He said that trained youngsters from vocational training center of excellence which was established with the cooperation of KMC would be provided with jobs in local trading and industrial departments.

Renowned industrialist S.M. Muneer, Sardar Yaseen Malik, Begun Salma Ahmed, Ahmed Chanai, Siddique Bhai, Safdar Morawala, Iqbal Pakwala and others also spoke on the occasion. Afterwards (MoU) was signed for the establishment of Center of Excellence.
