IT Park in Peshawar will commence this week, says Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Khan Hoti

Peshawar: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Khan Hoti has said that establishment of IT Parks in Deans Trade Center Peshawar and COMSATS Abbottabad are part of government’s special initiatives that aimed at promotion of information technology, generalizing job opportunities and increasing economic activities across the province.

The work on establishment of IT Park in Peshawar will commence this week. He was chairing the 3rd meeting of IT Board here at his office on Wednesday. Participants of the meeting were members IT Board, Provincial Ministers Ayub Ashari, and Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Chief Secretary Ghulam Dastagir, ACS Atta Ullah Khan, administrative secretary finance and science and technology, Director COMSATS Abbottabad, President Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and representatives of Pakistan Software Export Board Islamabad, Telecommunication Authority, Pakistan Software Houses association and Call Centers Association.

Managing Director IT Board Amjad Afridi presented the 8points agenda comprising appointment of staff, change in location of IT Park in Abbottabad, Board agreements with administration of Deans Trade Center, qualification of companies, provision of facilities, agreement with PTCL and revised budget. The agenda was discussed in detail during the meeting and certain decisions were taken.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that no attention was paid to information technology and promotion of industry in the past. He said that the present government has launched revolutionary programs for alleviation of poverty and unemployment in the province which have no precedents.

He said that establishment of IT Parks and Call centers was also part of government such efforts that will provide facilities to software companies and call centers to run their business at national and provincial level and will boost information technology and software industry, added, thousands of unemployed youth will benefit from training and employment opportunities.

He said that the 3rd meeting of IT Board in a short span of time reflects government’s special interest in promotion of information technology.
