Karachi –– International Islamic Finance Conference aimed at introducing international best practices in Islamic finance sector of the country will be held in Karachi on September 21-22, 2011.
Stating this Syed Shahjehan Salahuddin of Publicitas Limited at news conference here Wednesday, said about 250 delegates from Pakistan and abroad would be invited to attend conference being held with support of State Bank of Pakistan’s from Islamic Banking Division.
State Bank’s Islamic Banking Division Director Saleemullah said SBP was taking a lead in developing Islamic finance in the country. He felt it was competitive alternative and people should have a choice. He said share of Islamic banking was about seven percent of total banking system of the country and there are plans to enhance it to 12 percent in next three years.
