Intellectual Property Organization Pakistan’s image to be elevated: Chairman

Islamabad: Chairman, Intellectual Property Organization (IPO-Pakistan) Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi has said that Pakistan would ensure strict compliance of IP laws to fulfil the international obligations and encourage genuine business entrepreneurs in the country. This will open a new era of local and foreign investment and job opportunities.

He stated this while talking to parliamentarians who called on him at IPO Headquarter, here on Friday. Chairman IPO said that a new IPR culture would be introduced in Pakistan by giving legal protection to genuine investors and industrialists. Similarly, stern action would be taken against illegal practitioners.

Referring to various reforms being initiated to elevate the image of IPO-Pakistan, Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi said that Policy Board of the organizations and other committees would be re-activated by associating experienced and experts’ members similarly executive committees would also be reconstituted for proper evaluation and monitoring. He said close linkages with industrial sector would be maintained to bring all legal businesses under the IPO network, which will provide opportunities of exports and business promotions.

He said that the standard of services in all the offices of Intellectual Property Organization is being upgraded to facilitate the business community and other stakeholders while special training courses would also be arrange for capacity building of all concerns. Parliamentarians assured their cooperation to make IPO- Pakistan fully functional in order to meet its commitments.
