Meanwhile, Kashmiri-Americans staged a protest at New York's Times Square, denouncing India's human rights abuses and urging the implementation of the UN-pledged right to self-determination. According to a report by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, since the repeal of Kashmir's special status on August 5, 2019, the territory has witnessed a surge in human rights violatio ns, with 907 Kashmiris martyred, including 17 women and 30 young boys.
