Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain has said track and trace system will be implemented on cotton and ginning industry to avoid tax evasion. Talking to a delegation of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association in Islamabad today, he said Cotton Control Act will be fully implemented with the help of provincial governments. Recognizing the crucial role of cotton industry in the rural economy, Rana Tanveer Hussain said the government will consider the proposal to provide relief to the ginners in sales tax on cotton seed and cottonseed cake. The delegation informed the Minister that the country produced 8.4 million bales of cotton during the last season, emphasizing that with better policies, production could reach twenty million bales.
