Gillani Urges Stronger Economic Partnership Between Pakistan and Italy


Islamabad: Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani has stressed the need for further strengthening economic and political linkages between Pakistan and Italy. He was speaking at a luncheon held in honor of the Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, Marilina Armellin.



According to Radio Pakistan, Gillani emphasized Italy’s role as one of Pakistan’s largest trading partners within the European Union. He also highlighted the role of the vibrant Pakistani diaspora in Italy, which continues to serve as a vital bridge between the two nations.



In her remarks, the Italian Ambassador mentioned that the Chairperson of the Italy-Pakistan Friendship Group in the Italian Parliament, Sara Ferrari, will be visiting Pakistan soon. This visit is anticipated to further enhance the bilateral ties between the two countries.



Meanwhile, Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Thursday held a telephonic conversation with Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, Sahiba Ali Gafarova. The Senate Chairman invited Sahiba Ali Gafarova to attend the Inter-parliamentary Speakers’ Conference, beginning in Islamabad from the tenth of November. Sahiba Ali Gafarova also extended a formal invitation to Chairman Senate to participate in the International Parliamentary Conference scheduled in Baku on the 29th of the next month.
