Forceful demos in Kulgam over killing of govt employee

Srinagar, December 03, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, thousands of people staged demonstrations against the killing of a government employee during a search operation by Indian Army late last evening in Tchansar area of Kulgam district.

A guard in fisheries department, Assadullah Kumar, was shot dead after Indian Army started a search operation. He was on duty when a cordon was in place during which he was killed.

Family members of Assadullah Kumar told media that the deceased had two bullet injuries and torture marks on his body.

Locals said that Indian army was involved in the killing of the employee in the garb of search operation against militants.

Thousands of people staged demonstrations at main road in Vessu village demanding immediate arrest of the killers of Assadullah Kumar. They raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.

Meanwhile, the employees of Fisheries department staged a demonstration at Press Enclave in Srinagar, demanding an impartial probe to bring the killers of their slain colleague to justice.

“Assadullah Kumar and one of our colleagues were on night duty. Forces had arrived and asked them to open the door. Assadullah had come out to open the door. He was shot dead,” said Hilal Ahmad, one of the protestors, while quoting eyewitnesses. He said that another colleague frightened after hearing gunshots and that he didn’t dare to come out to see what was happening outside.

On the other hand, the Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir in a statement strongly condemned the killing of Assadullah Kumar and another civilian, Sajjad Ahmed Malik, by Indian troops. It expressed solidarity with the bereaved families. It also appealed to the international human rights organizations to take cognizance of Indian state terrorism in the occupied territory.
