Execution of 4 new 132KV Grid Stations in Lahore

LAHORE: A public hearing was conducted here today to obtain NOC from Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Punjab for execution of STG Works under Asian Development Bank Loan No. 2727 PAK (Tranche II).

The meeting was chaired by Director Environment Protection Agency (EPA) Punjab and General Manager Technical LESCO. Director EPA Punjab Mian Khalid Mehmood emphasized the importance of Public Hearing and role of Environment Protection Agency Punjab in reducing the environmental pollution. He emphasized the need to take care of environmental indicators which costs a little but its effects last longer and possess enormous importance.

Deputy Manager (Environment & Social Safeguard) LESCO Muhammad Usman gave an overview of Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) study of the project and different mitigation measures adopted by LESCO to keep the parameters within permissible limit. He said these STG Projects including 132KV New Grid Stations Press Club Housing Society Harbanspura, DHA Rahbar Defence Road, Central Park Feroz Pur road and Jubilee Town Canal Road to be constructed under Asian Development Bank Loan No.2727 u PAK (Tranche II) will be beneficial for provision of sustainable and consistent supply of electricity to the residents of Lahore City.

Later General Manager Technical LESCO Engr. Khalid Mahmood briefly described the efforts carried out by LESCO to reduce environmental pollution by tree plantation program at different offices of LESCO especially in and around the grid stations which have sufficient space for this purpose.

He further said that LESCO is committed to follow all instructions and requirements of EPA regarding improvement of environment.
