Documentary on IOK children to be screened on Wednesday

Srinagar, February 29, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference after three months of hard work and extensive research is all set to screen a documentary on Wednesday in a bid to portray the sufferings and pain of Kashmir’s conflict-ridden children. The Hurriyet is mulling to send copies of the 19-minute documentary to all leading human rights bodies of the world and also the leading film-makers across the globe.

The documentary has been prepared by the Hurriyet human rights wing headed by Abdul Manan Bukhari. “We have finally completed the documentary depicting pain and sufferings of Kashmiri children and would screen it on March 2 in a simple function,” he said.

Bukhari said the documentary titled— “Children in conflict-torn Kashmir” is an attempt to document the tragedy that the situation and the strife of past 25-years inflicted in the region’s young generation. “We interviewed the victims irrespective of their religious affiliations; keeping in mind that victim is a victim. We also interviewed many experts and some child psychologists to get the feel how a child suffers being born in a conflict,” he said.

APHC Chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that in a conflict zone, it’s must to document the tragedies inflicted on the people. “We believe in Kashmir, children have borne the brunt of perpetual strife. Our documentary is an effort to highly the pain of our young generation as to how their psyche is hit by the unabated oppressive policies of the regime,” he said.
