Citigroup delegation meets Finance Minister

Islamabad, March 26, 2014 (PPI-OT): Citigroup delegation led by Mr. Atiq-ur-Rehman, CEO Middle East and Pakistan met with the Federal Minister for Finance, Senator Ishaq Dar at the Finance Ministry today. The Finance Minister briefed the delegation on the steps taken by the government during the last eight months to set the economic direction of the country on the right track.

He informed that due to prudent policies, the economic indicators are moving in the positive direction. The Finance Minister briefed the delegation on the restructuring plan of the Public Sector Enterprises and transparency in auction of Spectrum licenses.

He hoped that the international community will see Pakistan as an investment destination. The Finance Minister appreciated the cooperation of the Citigroup in bringing investors for Pakistan’s capital market.

The CEO of the Citigroup congratulated the Finance Minister on successful IMF Programme. He said that internationally people view economic development in Pakistan as positive signs indicating potential future prospective for foreign investment in the country and Citibank is very keen to work with the government of Pakistan on various new initiatives.

Dr. Waqar Masood, Finance Secretary, Economic Advisor to Finance Ministry, Rana Assad Amin, Mr. Khalid Qurashi, Managing Director and Head of Risk for Middle East and Africa, Mr. Omar Iqtidar, Managing Director-UAE, Mr. Nadeem Lodhi, Country Head for Pakistan, Mr. Salman Mian, Corporate Banking Head were also present in the meeting.
