Christmas Dinner hosted in the honour of ambassadors and diplomats of different countries

Lahore, December 15, 2016 (PPI-OT):Punjab Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Mr. Khalil Tahir Sindhu has said that government is committed to protect the rights of minorities as well as human rights and a number of concrete steps had been adopted besides legislation and execution of special initiatives for the purpose. He stated this while addressing a Christmas Dinner hosted in the honour of ambassadors and diplomats different countries. Ambassadors and dignitaries of different countries attended Christmas dinner.

Mr. Sindhu welcomed the participants of Christmas Dinner and said that Jesus Christ’s message of love, peace and harmony reminds on the occasion about the commitments to promote justice for all and care of downtrodden. The Punjab Minister mentioned special steps adopted under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to provide proper opportunities of welfare and development of minorities.

He said that 27 Conventions signed with the European Union and a task force has been developed collaborating with local communities at the district level line all 36 districts of Punjab to monitor human rights violations. He also talked about ban on laud speakers, hate speeches, and hate material, obstructing the instigation and propagation of violence through the exploitation of religion in line with National Action Plan.

Punjab Minister for Human Rights and Minority Affairs Mr. Khalil Tahir Sindhu said that Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has designated a special cabinet committee in order to fulfill the requirements of the GSP Plus status of Pakistan. He expressed his gratitude to FACES Pakistan for supporting to organize the event.

Ambassador Delegation of the European Union to Pakistan Jean-Francois CAUTAIN appreciated the spirit and gesture of the Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minority Affairs Mr. Khalil Tahir Sindhu who had always honoured diplomats. He also appreciated the government efforts for protection of human rights and other similar measures for welfare of minorities. He said we were working closely for betterment of different segments of society in Pakistan. He also appreciated Punjab Government prompt action of different issues to protect the rights of minorities.
