British HC Visits NDMA’s NEOC in Islamabad

Islamabad: High Commissioner of the United Kingdom to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, has appreciated the integrated and technology-enabled approach adopted by Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority to strengthen disaster risk reduction and national preparedness. She expressed these views during her visit to the National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC), at the headquarters of the National Disaster Management Authority, in Islamabad today.

According to Radio Pakistan, the visit focused on an overview of Pakistan's disaster preparedness architecture, early warning mechanisms, and the technological capabilities of the National Emergencies Operation Center for monitoring and response coordination. During the visit, the High Commissioner was briefed on NDMA's Disaster Early Warning and Technology Ecosystem, including digital portals and operational dashboards operating at the NEOC.

Jane Marriott commended the Authority's focus on innovation, inter-agency coordination, and evidence-based planning to mitigate the impacts of disasters in an era of increasing climate risks. On the occasion, Chairman NDMA Inam Haider Malik highlighted the Authority's role as the lead national coordinating body for disaster management, emphasizing preparedness and anticipatory actions to address evolving disaster risks.

Both sides also exchanged views on enhancing cooperation between Pakistan and the United Kingdom in the areas of disaster risk reduction, climate resilience, and humanitarian coordination.
