Consul General of Russia Visits Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry office
Islamabad: Mr. Andrey V. Demidov, Counsel General of Russian Federation is the first foreign guest who visited FPCCI after the assumption of new President FPCCI Haji Fazal Qadir Khan Sherani. In his welcome address New President FPCCI said that Business Community of Pakistan values the relationship with Russian Federation. He told that diplomatic relations between the two countries were established soon after independence of Pakistan in 1948. He appreciated Russian support in various fields specially large scale Steel Mill.
Haji Fazal Kadir Khan Sherani also showed his concern over the low volume of bilateral trade between the two countries. He said that Russia is in Asia and near to Pakistan as compared to other countries but share of Pakistan export in Russian import is negligible that only 0.08 per cent while share of Russian export in Pakistan import is 0.06 per cent. President FPCCI also emphasized for mutual cooperation in various fields to boost the pace of progress in Asia.
Mr. Andrey V. Demidov, Consul General of Russian Federation, showed disappointment on low volume of trade and said that Business Community of both countries to come forward and support each other to enhance relations. Russia has great expertise and potential in energy, water dams etc. He was also optimistic on expansion of commercial relations between the two countries. He also said that Pakistani Business Community should tap new markets in Russias 80 regions.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal, Chairman, Pak- Russia Business Council, Begum Salma Ahmad, Member Executive Committee FPCCI, Syed Masood Alam Rizvi, Secretary General FPCCI and Mr. Abdul Razzak, Mr. Iftekhar Ashraf, Mr. Shahid Hamid Jafri, Sardar Shaukat Popalzai.
