Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry to organize single country Expo in Dhaka

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) with the collaboration of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is organizing a five-day single country Expo “Made in Pakistan” in Dhaka, Bangladesh to promote the Pakistani products in the South Asian Countries. The said Expo will be started from 14 to 18 June, 2011 in which 200 trade delegations with more then 70 stalls of the local goods will be displayed in the Expo.

It was announced by the President RCCI S. Ali Raza Saeed Shah in a press briefing here on Sunday. High Commissioner Bangladesh H.E Sohrab Hossain, Director TDAP Umar Hameed, former presidents Sabir Hussain Butt, Najam Malik, Chairman RCCI standing Committee for fairs and Expos Kashif Shabbir, Khursheed Barlas, members’ executive committee and renowned business men of the City were also present on the occasion.

Ali Raza said that this is RCCI second Expo the same expo have already been organized in Chandigarh India and RCCI is the first Chamber of the country to arrange such expos outside the country.

He further said that RCCI believe peace through trade and it is need of the hour to enhance trade activities among the SAARC countries. “We should not focus the European markets or western trade markets, it is the time to explore the regional venues to sell our products as 90 percent of our products have great potential in the neighbouring countries”, Ali Raza said.

Speaking on the occasion Chairman RCCI standing Committee for Fairs & Expos Kashif Shabbir has said that Bangladesh is our brother Islamic country having 6% growth rate and purchasing power of the people of Bangladesh is increasing day by day which would benefit our mission of enhancing export to the said country.

He said that RCCI took initiated to infinite promotion of local goods in the region and it is the time to endorse regional trade. He demanded of the government to facilitate the RCCI in this national issue for the betterment of the national economy.

Member RCCI and Convener of “Made in Pakistan” Khursheed Barlas in his speech stressed the importance of the bilateral trade ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh and also underlined the benefits of regional trade.

He was of the view that South Asian Countries Free Trade Agreements is the only way to success. He thanked the High Commissioner of Bangladesh for his heartiest cooperation in organizing the said expo. At the end the ambassador of Bangladesh Sohrab Hossain ensure his full cooperation.
