Pakistan’s Tech Exports Reach Record High as Digital Sector Gains Momentum

Pakistan's information technology sector recorded its strongest export performance on record during the first eleven months of fiscal year 2025-26, underscoring the growing importance of digital services to the country's export earnings and broader economic strategy. Advisor to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad said Pakistan's technology exports reached US$4.2 billion during 11MFY26, representing a 20 percent year-on-year increase and marking the highest export level achieved by the sector over the period.

In a post on X, Schehzad said technology exports totalled US$373 million in May 2026, an increase of 13 percent compared with the corresponding month of the previous year. He added that exports were expected to exceed US$4.5 billion by the end of the current fiscal year. According to the adviser, the information technology industry has emerged as one of Pakistan's strongest-performing export sectors, making an increasingly significant contribution to the national economy.

He said the sector was supporting the country's digital transformation while generating high-value employment opportunities and expanding Pakistan's presence in international technology markets. Schehzad also expressed confidence in the sector's medium-term outlook, stating that continued policy certainty and government support under the FY2026-27 budget would help sustain double-digit growth.

He said those measures would position the technology industry to attract higher levels of investment while further strengthening Pakistan's standing as a global technology destination. The latest export figures highlight the continued expansion of Pakistan's digital economy, with the information technology sector maintaining strong export growth and reinforcing its role as an increasingly important source of foreign exchange earnings.
