Pakistan slams Indian attempts to portray Kashmiris’ self-determination fight as terrorism

At the United Nations, Pakistan has said that India is suppressing the struggle of Kashmiris for their right to self-determination which was promised to them by the world body.

This was stated by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram said in a written response that UNSC resolutions call for not to linking terrorism with any religion.

Rejecting Indian insinuations, Ambassador Akram reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of terrorism in all forms and manifestations.

He said the proliferating conflicts across the world are a clear signal that the UN and the international community have failed to address these root causes of conflicts.

Munir Akram said recent international counter terrorism strategies have made no effort to distinguish terrorism from legitimate struggles for self-determination and national liberation.

He said the people of Indian-Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir have been obliged to do so in their fight for self-determination for over seven decades.

He said India has tried to tarnish the legitimacy of the Kashmir cause by portraying it as terrorism and misused its ‘counter terrorism’ laws that are incompatible with human rights laws, to perpetuate its continued illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.
