Pakistan will host Indus AI Week 2026 from February 9 to 15 in a national push to accelerate artificial intelligence adoption, linking policymakers, industry leaders, academia and start-ups in a coordinated effort to expand skills and implementation.
The announcement was made by Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, who described the initiative as a countrywide platform aimed at advancing practical engagement with AI. The programme seeks to connect students, entrepreneurs, companies and public institutions to foster awareness and applied use of emerging technologies.
Organised by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication through a public-private partnership, Indus AI Week has been framed as an open and inclusive effort to promote learning, collaboration and experimentation in the field of artificial intelligence. While Islamabad will host flagship events, activities will also take place nationwide through partner institutions.
The week will begin with the Indus AI Summit at the Jinnah Convention Center on February 9. An Innovation, Learning and Engagement Arena will follow at the Islamabad Sports Complex on February 9 and 10. From February 9 to 15, universities, corporations and public bodies across the country will stage co-branded events under the Indus AI Week banner.
According to the ministry, the programme will feature a national technology showcase, start-up and innovation sessions connecting founders with investors, training and certification opportunities, and interactive public engagement activities. A gaming and experiential AI arena is also planned to broaden participation and encourage hands-on exposure.
Officials said the initiative builds on Pakistan's National AI Policy introduced last year. The objective, they noted, is to move beyond policy dialogue toward wider adoption and implementation of artificial intelligence in practical settings.
By focusing on talent development, responsible AI use and international collaboration, Indus AI Week 2026 is intended to position Pakistan more prominently within the evolving global artificial intelligence ecosystem.
