Many Hurriyet leaders arrested during protests in Srinagar

Srinagar, December 30, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police arrested many Hurriyet leaders and activists during a protest demonstration in Srinagar against arrest of innocent youth by Indian police and killing of civilians at the hands of the members of Indian Army-backed terrorist militia, Village Defense Committees.

The demonstration was held at Press Colony and was participated by Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Yasmeen Raja, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Firdous Ahmad Shah, Abdul Ahad Parra, Molvi Bashir Ahmad, Muhammad Ramzan Khan, Muhammad Rafiq Ganai, Muhammad Yasin Attai, Imtiaz Ahmad Shah, Abdur Rasheed Lone, Syed Imtiaz Haider, Engineer Farooq and others.

The police used brute force against the protesters and arrested dozens of Hurriyet leaders and activists including Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Firdous Ahmad Shah, Abdul Ahad Parra and Muhammad Yasin Attai. The detainees were lodged at Kothi Bagh Police station in Srinagar. Earlier, the leaders addressing the protesters called for disbanding of the Village Defense Committees and release of arrested Hurriyet leaders and activists.

The puppet administration also put Hurriyet leaders, Meraj-ud-Din Kalwal, Altaf Ahmed Shah and Muhammad Ayaz Akbar under house detention to prevent them from participating in anti-India demonstrations. Meanwhile, senior Hurriyet leader, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi addressing a Seerat conference at Meergund in Badgam denounced the arrest of Hurriyet leaders on fake charges, continued house detention of Syed Ali Gilani and killing of civilians by members of Village Defense Committees. He also expressed condolences with Hurriyet leader, Aasiya Andrabi, over the death of her mother.
