Kishtwar observes strike against killings in Pulwama

Srinagar, February 17, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, strike was observed in Kishtwar town to protest against the civilian killings by Indian troops in Pulwama district. Call for shutdown in Kishtwar was given by the Imam of Jamia Masjid, Maulana Farooq Ahmed Kitchloo. All shops and business establishments in Muslim majority area remained closed while transport was off the road.

Two civilians and a Mujahid were killed in Kakpora area of Pulwama district on Sunday when forces opened fire on post-encounter protests killing Danish Farooq of Ratnipora and Shaista Hamid of Lelhar on the spot. Shutdown was observed to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir especially the families of the victims. “We denounce and condemn the innocent killings and demand impartial probe into these killings of Danish Farooq and Shaista Hamid,” Maulana Farooq Ahmed Kitchloo told media men.
