Black Day observed on both sides of LoC, IIOJK

Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over observed 27th October as Black Day, on Thursday, to express utter rejection of 75 years of illegal occupation of their motherland by India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the day was marked by anti-India and pro-freedom rallies in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan and in world capitals. Call for observance of the Black Day was given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference. It was on this day in 1947 when Indian troops had invaded Jammu and Kashmir and occupied it in total disregard to the Partition Plan of the Subcontinent and against the aspirations of the Kashmiris.

A report released by Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, today, said Indian troops have martyred over 400,000 Kashmiris including more than 250,000 in Jammu region since October 27, 1947 till date. More than 3.5 million Kashmiris were forced to migrate to Azad Kashmir, Pakistan and other parts of the world. The report said the troops have martyred 96,140 Kashmiris since January 1989.

Illegally detained senior APHC leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in a statement issued in Srinagar said, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference sticks to its principled stand that the Kashmir dispute needs to be resolved as per aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Speakers at Kashmir conference in British Parliament in London sought intervention by the UK government to avert a possible nuclear war between Pakistan and India on the lingering Kashmir dispute. The event was chaired by Member of UK Parliament, Afzal Khan.
