Keeping in view risk of expected floods, the border village of Bhakiwind in Kasur has been evacuated as part of precautionary measures.
In a tweet, the National Disaster Management Authority said that there are chances of the village being disconnected from the land in case of an increase in the flow of water.
It said over 14,000 stranded people have been shifted to safer places. All relevant institutions, including Rescue 1122, Pakistan Army and Rangers are on high alert in areas prone to flood.
Meanwhile, Provincial Disaster Management Authority have been directed to ensure timely evacuation of the residents of the low-lying areas around rivers including Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej and associated canals.
District administration was further asked to ensure completion of stock taking and monitor the sensitive areas especially Trimmu at the Chenab and Jasser at Ravi till 20th of this month.
